New Tee

12 August, 2008 by blankcanvastees

A new tee from BC, suitable for those who like to go fast.

Andy reppin’ the new design.

If you like to go fast, in any respect, then this tee is for you!

A fast stance, helpfully illustrating the meaning of the tee.

And yes, this tee is for sale. Contact us for more info…via the contact page.

Yup, that’s right, BC have had their first ever paying customer!

Pictures to follow shortly.

Printing

20 July, 2008 by blankcanvastees

Although we were pleased with the finish of the last tee, we thought there must be a better way to get crisper and cleaner edges, so we tried using Sticky Back Plastic for the stencil. The idea was that it all stuck down onto the tee so so paint could creep underneath. To test it out we just used a very simple BC symbol.

The Sticky Back Plastic as the stencil.

It proved to give a really nice finish, even cleaner than before.

We’re so confident of the finish, we even took a close up of it.

A sleeve design using the plastic.

I think we have found our printing method of choice. Now we can start with the proper designing and selling!

Test with new paint

16 July, 2008 by blankcanvastees

We Blank Canvas folk got our new fabric paint and thought we’d give it a go on a spare t-shirt and with a new design.

The stencil.

We were quite chuffed with how this turned out, except for the ‘n’ in ‘blank’ which has some sort of growth. That was due to just clumsy painting. So just ignore it.

Once it dried we gave it a quick iron to ‘fix’ it to the fabric. Apparently.

Somone seems happy with their tee. Well, when you look that good, who wouldn’t be?

A pensive, natural look from Andy. All Blank Canvas tees come with a 2 year guarantee to attract the opposite sex. See above for proof.

Check these very helpful photos that clearly show the garment.

Blank Canvas also design tattoos. £10 for each stroke of the brush. So that design would cost you a mere £30.

Paint!

The fabric paint has arrived. Expect some designs soon. And expect some sold t shirts soon!

Designing Session

21 June, 2008 by blankcanvastees

All three, yes, all of us, met up for a designing session for a few hours. Got some nice designs out and getting closer to making a range of tees we can sell. We also bought some proper fabric paint, which is always useful. Here are some snaps from it:

There currently seems to be a lot of blank canvases.

The Sean man.

The Zoe man.

Sean the King of Scalpeling. And, is that a sneak preview of a design I can see there?!

Next…

19 June, 2008 by blankcanvastees

We are currently in the prcoess of looking for and buying some fabric paint, both spray and regular, and getting some more designs done. The paints are quite expensive, and as we don’t really have any money, it may have to be just black for a while!

Once we get these, we can make tees suitable for selling, and we can start working on the orders we already have. Fantastic.

Sponsorship!

18 June, 2008 by blankcanvastees

Blank Canvas are proud to present our first sponsered person. That’s right, BC sponsor up and coming inline skater Sean Purdy!

We may only give him merchandise, and he may be part of BC, and he may make shirts himself, BUT we still sponsor him. Brilliant.

Testing Session

18 June, 2008 by blankcanvastees

After the vague success and general fun of the first time, we thought we should get some more designs together and test methods out on some white tees. We nipped into town and got some cheapo tops, but, despite being size small, they were far too big it was ridiculous. Maybe the nation is getting bigger, or we at BC are just really small…probably the latter. So that was a bit of a bummer because the shirts basically didn’t fit at all and so looked very bad, but they were still fine for testing.

The (urrrban) Studio. We used regular black spray paint for the designs. Well, not just any black, it was described as CHAOS Black. O yes.

We thought this looked quite nice, with the obviously sprayed on look very welcome.

Andy with the shirtpulledbacklooktomakeitlooklessbaggyforthecamera look. This turned out alright, but the spray showing around the outside of the of it didn’t really work.

Sean with a more bold variant on the previous design. And you see that jump? He could’nt have done that without that tee.

This little man was painted on to give more detailed and finer edges.

We went a bit crazy with the stencils, to see what it would look like. Could you pull it off? Sean does. In a big way.

Andy looking a bit rough. But it’s OK. He has a nice tee. We did this by fiddling around with the stencil, it’s not very ledgible, butit gives an interesting effect.

And yes. It is back. Bigger and better. The iconic face of Sean. Here at BC, we like this.

What have we learnt from our testing session?

  • Find better fitting shirts. That’ll make it look much better.
  • Use thicker stencils, or anchor them down better when using spray paint to make cleaner edges.
  • Painting gives very clean edges, spraying gives less clean, but can still look good.
  • We need more designs.
  • T-shirt making is fun.

First Session

18 June, 2008 by blankcanvastees

We had our first ever blank canvas session! After talking about it lots at school, two thirds of BC (sorry Zoe) went back to Andy’s house with the intention of just getting some designs done. But, we didn’t just get some designs done, o no, we produced the first ever BC shirt! Admittadly we used an old shirt that Andy’s mum got free from doing a triathlon, and the ink we used was, well, just regular paint. But it was a start. Here are some picture of Andy reppin’ the first design produced by BC.

The colour of the stencil may be questionable, but you can see the idea!

We didn’t stop there however…check this snazzy shirt out…

That’s right, a stencil of the Sean man himself.
